Time Flies...

Yes, the old adage is true - time does fly when you're having fun.  We had an amazing adventure in which we all saw incredible sights and experienced the good and the not-so-good (and sometimes the downright bizarre) of the local cultures in which we were immersed. We all made new friends, tried new foods (like pâté, frog legs and escargot!), and learned new things. Most importantly, we learned that the world is much larger than Central PA and is worthy of being explored and appreciated.
We also had a wonderful courier - Myriam Solomon. She took great care of us and kept us all in line (yes, even the chaperones!) I am especially thankful for her help when I got sick - she went out of her way (and well beyond the call of duty) and visited her pharmacist multiple times to get me the medicines I needed to get better. I know I am not alone when I say that I miss her already and I look forward to seeing her again in future travels!
I am extremely grateful that I was able to share this experience with the particular group of students who traveled with us. They fully embraced each opportunity and experience. They never complained - even when they were cold, tired or hungry and had every right to do so. Their desire to learn and understand what they were seeing was so evident and it made the trip all the more meaningful. And as always, Bill and I feel so blessed that we had the opportunity to spend time with each student outside of the classroom setting. These young women and men undoubtedly have bright futures and we look forward to hearing from each one as they move forward, beyond the walls of Selinsgrove or Lewisburg Area High Schools.
Even though I didn't blog as much as I had hoped to, I did take an embarrassing number of photos (680 is the final count) - some of which are posted on Flickr for your viewing pleasure. You can check out 420-some of my photos in the album Europe 2015.

Paris Photos

As promised, here are some photos of our time in Paris:

Le Château de Versailles
A very crowded Hall of Mirrors
We ran into some famous people at Versailles...

Jeanne d'Arc
Marie Antoinette
Napoleon Bonaparte
As we left the Petit Trianon and headed to Marie Antoinette's Hamlet, we stopped by The Temple of Love.
The Temple of Love
We found Cupid in the Temple of Love, Naturally
But why does Cupid have that look on his face?
Yeah....
Marie Antoinette's Hamlet also has a fully working farm...
The goats and sheep take the term "head butt" a bit too literally...
That's a lotta bacon, I mean, pig

(Better known as the home of the Phantom...)
